Lonely Shoulder

The sands are slipping, she is falling away.

Light, you traitor, warm and comforting,
Refract, turn the corner, bring cohorts
Responsibility, Obligation, and Practicality.

Where dreams had found shelter, now
hollow echo, like a rumble, demanding
succor from the excesses of a drug.

I have stood still, the Earth moved away.
